• Monoprints / PR100

Monotype is the combination of painting and printmaking. Students use brushes, inks, paints, rollers, and drawing implements to create unique prints from a Plexiglas plate. This process allows students the freedom to work in a direct, spontaneous manner leading to gestural images and textured surfaces.


• Linoleum Printing / PR101

Learn the basics of Linoleum Printing, how to cut, make marks and emboss images onto this versatile medium.  Learn techniques for hand or press printing as well as reduction printing; making a single or multiple color print.  All levels including beginners are encouraged to sign up.


• Block Printing / PR102

Looking at block prints of different generations beginning with Japanese block printer  Hokusai and ending with more contemporary block printers such as Robert Blackburn and Whitfeld Lovell. Participants will prepare, design, carve and print their own blocks placing an emphasis on line, mark making, contour and grey-scale.


• The Art Of The Woodcut / PR103

This class is an in depth exploration of woodblock printing, focusing on both process and creativity.  Students will create their own prints from start to finish, utilizing classic and alternative methods.


• Drypoint / PR104

Engraving is one of the oldest printing methods. Using the Burin and the Drypoint Needle, learn how to hand cut into copper plates creating images that can be printed with the Etching Press. Techniques to achieve variations in tone and line will be discussed, along with demonstrations as to how to prepare and ink a plate in preparation for printing. All levels welcome.


• Instructed Studio Printmaking / PRi70

The printmaking studio is available for artists who have a working knowledge of the equipment and processes to work on independent print projects. Participants are responsible for bringing in their own materials to work with, such as paper, ink, plates, etc. A teacher will be available to help with any questions and to oversee the print studio.


Textile Design


• Textile Design I / TX200

This course will review  different types of textiles and their design elements; woven, knit and printed design. Printed design will be the focus of the class in order to demonstrate how motifs can be made and placed in repeat. Depending on the students’ experience this can be done by hand or in Adobe Photoshop.


• Textile Design II: Printing / TX201

The goal of this course is to create printed fabric for use in upholstery or fashion design. Students will learn where to send their screens to be prepared with their image and how to print on fabric in continuous repeat. This will include learning how to wash and prepare fabric for printing, stretching fabric on tables, the use of screens in the creation of a repeated design and the drying of fabric to stabilize the ink. This class is exclusively for learning the repeat process of screen-printing on fabric.


Teen / Preteen


• Teen Monoprints (Ages 11-14 +) / TPR100
