Textile Design
• Textile Design I / TX200
This course will review the different types of textiles and their design elements; woven, knit and printed design. Printed design will be the focus of the class in order to demonstrate how motifs can be made and placed in repeat. Depending on the students’ experience this can be done by hand or in Adobe Photoshop.
• Textile Design II: Printing / TX201
The goal of this course is to create printed fabric for use in upholstery or fashion design. Students will learn where to send their screens to be prepared with their image and how to print on fabric in continuous repeat. This will include learning how to wash and prepare fabric for printing, stretching fabric on tables, the use of screens in the creation of a repeated design and the drying of fabric to seal the ink. This class is exclusively for learning the repeat process of screen-printing on fabric.
